Buffing & Polishing

Captain Larry and the Buff Job from Hell Captain Larry stood on the dock, arms crossed, scowling at the reflection of his boat in the water self-declared Admiral of Aesthetics “She’s duller than a divorce lawyer’s sense of humor,” he muttered. Armed with a buffer in one hand and a bucket of Rayplex #100 Coarse Buffing Compound in the other, Larry got to work, muttering sea shanties and battle cries like, “Ye dull gelcoat be warned!” Armed also with a six-pack of “nautical inspiration,” Larry fired up the buffer like he was starting a chainsaw battle. After three minutes of aggressive buffing, the boat gleamed—at least the part where he accidentally buffed through his own reflection. Pleased but not impressed, he switched to Rayplex #200 Fine Compound, whispering, “Time to charm the mermaids.” Three hours later, Captain Larry stood back, sunburnt, shirtless, and slightly tipsy. The boat gleamed like a beauty queen at a fishing derby. “She’s slicker than a politician at tax time,” Larry said proudly. Then he slipped on a glob of wax, fell in the water, and resurfaced with a barnacle stuck to his bald spot. |
