WAX SOLUTION 5%

Commonly used in the final coat.

Add 5% Wax Solution/Air Dry to the unwaxed polyester resin, vinyl ester resin, or gel coat to make it non-tacky when dry. It contains paraffin wax suspended in styrene solvent. The wax rises to the surface as the material cures and seals the surface from oxygen.

Resin will only cure in the absence of oxygen so this is needed for the top layer. If it is not used the top layer may feel sticky.

Rayplex #620 Wax Solution is crucial for polyester resins and gel coats, ensuring a tack-free cure on the final coat.

How Much to Add   The recommended mix ratio is 5% wax solution to 100 parts resin or gelcoat.

Important Note that Wax solution when added to resin or gelcoat must be a least 80 deg F when added to resin or gelcoat.  Lower temperature will cause the wax to solidify and  improper mix will occur.  Look at the wax solution and if it’s clear is ok to use.  Cloudy or solidified product will need to be warmed up.  Place the wax solution can in a bath of warm water before adding to the resin or gelcoat.

How IT Works During curing, the Wax Solution rises to the surface, preventing air from contacting the curing resin or gelcoat. This results in a hard, tack-free finish, further sanding is possible with out the sandpaper gumming up. A significant benefit of using Wax Solution is the completely tack-free surface it creates. This improves the appearance of your resin or gel coat. With a tack-free cure, you can confidently proceed to the next steps of your project without concerns about sticking or gumming of the sandpaper.

Secondary Bonding When using waxed resin and gelcoat, sanding is necessary for secondary bonding. This extra step ensures strong and reliable bonds.

Let's take a closer look at the key features of Rayplex Wax Solution

Tack-Free Cure: As the resin or gel coat cures, the wax solution rises to the surface, creating a hard finish completely free of tackiness. This results in a visually appealing and professional-looking final product.
Exclusion of Air: By preventing air from contacting the surface of the curing resin, this additive ensures a more efficient and effective curing process. This helps eliminate potential imperfections and achieve a smooth, flawless surface.
Easy Application: Wax Solution can be easily added to polyester resins and gel coats, making it a convenient choice for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts. With just 4 fl. oz. of surfacing agent per gallon of resin, you can achieve impressive results without any hassle.
Superior Bonding: While the tack-free cure is important, it's essential to remember that waxed resin requires sanding for secondary bonding. By following this step, you can ensure strong and reliable bond.
Wax Solution is manufactured by melting paraffin wax into styrene. You can trust the quality and reliability of this additive for all your resin and gel coat applications.
In summary, Wax Solution is a must-have for anyone working with polyester resins and gel coats. Its ability to provide a tack-free cure, along with its efficient exclusion of air, makes it essential for achieving professional and flawless finishes. Wax Solution is the perfect choice for your projects.
